This is the moment all authors wait for, when a book first releases for public consumption. There’s nothing like it in the world. The exhilaration, the nervousness, the anticipation, the excitement…actually, that sounds a lot like the way a stunt person feels right before jumping off the side of a building and experiencing the rush of the fall…
And what happens when a stunt person…or, in our case, two stunt people fall in love? There’s lots of explosions…both on set and off. Races and crashes. Falling off balconies and jumping off roofs. And lots of sex in, on and around cars.
For two people not afraid to push their bodies to the limit, Jay and Blaina are about to face their greatest challenge…falling in love.
Lisa and I hope you’ll enjoy Blaina and Jay’s love story. We love writing the Hollywood Heat stories and as soon as we finish working on the revisions of Lover’s Talisman and Forsaken Talisman, and writing Eternal Talisman, we’ll begin working on the next book in the Hollywood Heat series, tentatively titled Handle With Caution. You meet both the hero and heroine of HWC in Driven to Distraction, although the two don’t spend any time together in this book and readers will probably be surprised who we’re putting together! We’d also love to hear from readers on which secondary characters in Driven to Distraction they’d like to see get their own story. So please, drop us an email, comment on our blog, let us know who you want to read more about. And let us know what you think about Driven to Distraction.

One-night stands aren't always enough, even when you're just Acting on Impulse...

I just finished Driven To Distraction and I loved it. I did not want it to end! I also went to E’s Cave and downloaded Acting On Impulse. I liked that also but it was too short. I wish that it had been fleshed-out a little more.

Hi Bev~
I agree that Acting on Impulse is a bit short. That’s one of the problems with the limitation of a “quickie” word count. Acting on Impulse was our first release, even though it was our second contracted story. When we contracted Lover’s Talisman in 2003, our EC editor suggested we write a “quickie” to introduce ourselves to readers–I believe at the time the word count limitation on those books was around 15k. The idea for Acting on Impulse was based on a story Lisa and I wrote back in the late 90s. We wrote the story just for ourselves, a couple thousand words, called “Girls’ Night Out”. Although the final version of Acting on Impulse bares almost no resemblance to the original story Lisa and I wrote, other than the friendship between Blaina and Sam.
Now when Lisa and I try to come up with ideas for short stories, they keep expanding on us until they’re full-length novels. Driven to Distraction was originally planned as a 40,000 word story, but Blaina and Jay quickly told us that we had no idea what we were talking about and they were due a full-length novel. Bossy characters, but thank goodness for them because I love how Driven to Distraction turned out. I guess it goes to show the characters really are the ones in control of the story, and it’s best to let them have their way.
Thanks again for all your kind words about DtD, Bev. It’s made my week!
